Iraq terrorist attacks rooted in lack of political unity: PUK envoy

TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iraqi Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) envoy in Iran Nazem Dabbagh said recent terrorist attacks in Iraq are rooted in the lack of complete unity among political groups of the country.

 

In an interview with Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), Dabbagh pointed out to the recent terrorist actions in Iraq killing and injuring a large number of Iraqis and said "these terrorist attacks are carried out by al-Qaeda and former Baath Party members and they are resulted from lack of unity among Iraqi political groups."

 

"These criminal groups and bands can not play a role in Iraqi people's fate, if Iraqi forces create unity."

 

Also concerning a question on reasons behind these actions, he said these measures seek to pretend that Iraqi governments is not efficient to provide security of the country after the US forces withdrew from Iraqi cities.

 

These terrorist measures also aim at overshadowing upcoming Iraqi parliamentary election, he said adding some groups under the name of "resistance" distributed notices in Iraq to take measure against the government
