The representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Tehran, said that Iran called on the Iraqi Kurds not to get involved in the disputes between Shiites and Sunnis in the country.

Referring to the recent visit of the Iran Qods Force Commander, Esmail Qaani's, to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, Nazim Dabbagh said that the visit was to calm the situation in Iraq, especially after the protests against the results of the parliamentary elections and the assassination attempt against Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, adding that the role of Iran in Iraq is not a new issue, and Iran cares about the security and stability of Iraq as much as it cares about its security and stability.

The Kurdistan Regional Government representative in Tehran stressed that the assassination attempt on the Iraqi Prime Minister is against Iran's interests and that it is not in anyone's interest to see Iran and Iraq to assassinate the figures of the other side.

He stated that in his opinion, General Qaani stressed to various Iraqi parties and movements that they should accept the results of the Iraqi elections.

He also added that Qaani had previously made visits to the Kurdistan region during his travels to Iraq, which means that the Kurds are important for Iran in maintaining balance in Iraq and that Iran's message to the Kurds was that they should not get involved in conflicts between Shiite and Sunni movements.

Nazim Dabbagh went on to say that Qaani had told the Kurds that once the Shiite movements reached an agreement, they would be able to support the movements, which represents all Shiites.

The envoy stressed that the Kurds cannot stay against one front and stand by another, because for the Kurds Iran is not a country that can support the Kurdish region at all times, and on the other hand, the Kurds cannot fully trust the United States and other countries and they must maintain their neutrality in this situations.

The Iraqi Kurdistan region's envoy in Iran Nazem Dabbagh has said anti-Iran Kurdish groups will vacate their bases in the region in northern Iraq.

Dabbagh also said the Kurdistan region’s government plans to stop the groups to prevent further strikes by Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.

He stressed that no Kurdish official has links with the anti-Iran groups.

Dabbagh also said meetings with the groups are aimed at restricting their activities. This comes after the IRGC pounded the anti-Iran groups’ bases over their involvement in unrest and riots in Iran’s Kordestan Province following the death of 22-year-old girl Mahsa Amini.

The IRGC shelling killed many of those groups’ members and wounded a large number of others. The attacks also caused huge material damage.

The IRGC says Iran’s national security is its red line and any move to cross it will be met with a firm response.

TEHRAN, Oct. 09 (MNA) – Nazem Dabbagh, the Representative of Kurdistan Region of Iraq in Iran has said that the Kurdish officials will seriously follow up on the end of activities of the anti-Iran adversary armed groups.

"It is not acceptable to us that the Kurdish opposition groups create troubles for Iran and the region, and if they continue their armed activities, we will take serious action this time," Nazem Dabbagh, the Representative of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in Iran said on Sunday in an interview with an Iranian media outlet.

Dabbagh added that Iran and the KRG officials reached an agreement about strengthening border security.

"Three months ago and again about 20 days ago, the joint security committee held meetings in Erbil and Tehran, in which decisions were made about strengthening border security and it was emphasized that Iranian Kurdish opposition groups must not have armed or military training activities within the territory of the Kurdistan Region," the KRG representative added.

He went on to stress that "The Kurdish groups' bases in the KRG territory must be evacuated, and we are waiting for the implementation of this decision, but this issue is still being studied to decide whether only their bases on the shared borders should be evacuated, or the decision should include their bases that are there since Saddam regime's time to date."

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) representative to Tehran has said that he is unaware about any kind of meeting between the region's officials and Iran.

Nazim Dabbagh told Voice of America (VOA) on Thursday, May 19, that the representative office in Tehran has long been unaware of the details of the meetings between the region's delegations and Iranian officials.
He added that the communications occur through political parties rather than the KRG's representation, especially after the 2017 Kurdistan Independence referendum.
Dabbagh is a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).
He said, "just like everyone else", he is not aware of visits made by the region's political parties to Iran, and he hears about them in the media.
"Everything is done from Erbil and Sulaimani through the Iranian consulates. They organise the visits themselves, especially if they come by private planes; we are less aware of it," he said.
He added that Iranian delegations had visited Sulaimani and Erbil many times to meet with the KDP or PUK officials; however, no one had heard about them.
The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and PUK control security and administration in different parts of the Kurdistan Region and separately control different KRG's representations abroad.
The KDP controls Erbil and Duhok provinces, while the PUK controls Sulaimani and Halabja provinces.

Nazim Dabbagh, the Representative of Iraqi Kurdistan Region in Iran, said on Sunday that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will take serious decision for anti-Iran Kurdish groups based in the region.

He told IRNA that it is not acceptable for KRG that the groups create concern for Iran and if they resort to armed activities another time, they will face a harsh measure.
His comments came after the strongholds of the groups in Iraqi Kurdistan region came under drone and artillery attacks of IRGC.
The attacks have been stopped but Iran has warned to resume attacks if KRG officials fail to act responsibly to prevent cross-border acts of sabotage against Iran by terrorist groups in the region.
Dabbagh said that a meeting of an Iranian consular delegation and the KRG officials has stressed the need for evacuating the strongholds of anti-Iran groups in the region.
The envoy noted that the KRG has always underlined that it will not allow its soil to be used for acts of terror against neighboring countries.
He made it clear that there is no contact between KRG officials and the anti-Iran groups in the region, adding that occasional meetings take place for negotiations, carrying messages and limiting parts of their activities which create concern both for Iran and the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
